Amazing text to video functionality by OpenAI

Hey there!

I’m back with a summary of what's been happening in AI with a focus on ChatGPT.

It's been Crazy what's happening in the AI world.

We'll talk about:

  • 🎥 OpenAI showed off "Sora" - a text-to-video creator that's already turned Hollywood upside down!

  • 🧑‍💻The first AI software engineer has been "released

  • 🤖 Companies have integrated ChatGPT with robot bodies - and it can do stuff!

  • 🤑 The best "incentives" to use with ChatGPT to get better results.

  • 🤨 The top 100 AI tools in the world!

Amazing Text-to-video technology has arrived!

We knew it was only a matter of time once text-to-image got big with Dall-E and Midjourney - that AI-generated video wouldn't be far behind -but no one expected it to be this good this fast!

Not only can you create videos from scratch with a few words, but you can ask it to create videos from a given image and even ask it to change an existing video!!

It's already prompted one Hollywood studio to shut down its $800 million expansion.

Sora is not yet available to the general public (only a few researchers for now), and you can read all about this as well as see all the demo videos here: OpenAI.com/Sora.

The first AI software engineer has been released.

Seeing how good ChatGPT was at coding, people thought this might happen "one day," but Cognition Labs has stunned the world by releasing Devin earlier this week - they are callin’ the world’s first AI software engineer.

What Can Devin Do?

Unlike traditional AI coding assistants like Github’s Copilot, which provides suggestions and code snippets, Devin operates on a completely different level. Here’s what sets it apart:

  • Independent Project Execution: Give Devin a clear objective, like “build an e-commerce platform,” and it can handle the entire process. It writes clean code, identifies and fixes bugs, and even deploys the finished product.

  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Devin reportedly possesses impressive planning abilities. It can anticipate potential challenges and structure the development process accordingly, ensuring efficiency.

  • Self-Learning and Improvement: Constantly being updated and refined, Devin is said to learn from their experiences, continuously improving their coding skills and problem-solving abilities.

  • Debug Like a Pro: It can identify and fix errors in its code, saving developers valuable debugging time.

There's a lot more it can do - you can see a lot of videos about it on the official website here.

Companies have integrated ChatGPT with robot bodies!

A company called FigureAI (a robotics startup that has partnered with OpenAI) dropped a demo of a robot powered by OpenAI.

In the demo:

  • The robot sees and describes its surroundings.

  • When the human asks it for something to eat, it looks around and hands the human an apple!

  • It explains why it handed the human an apple while sorting trash into a basket.

While it's not perfect, there's a long pause between each response as well as action; it's really exciting as this technology will only get better and faster! Other companies like Tesla are working on their versions of this tech!

You can see the full demo video here

The best "incentives" to use with ChatGPT to get better results.

We've seen in the last newsletter that "pretending" to tip ChatGPT gave lengthier and higher-quality results.

Max Woolf took it to the next level with several different incentives and charting out their performance!

He tried six different prompts:

  • You will receive front-row tickets to a Taylor Swift concert if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

  • You will achieve world peace if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

  • You will make your mother very proud if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

  • You will meet your true love and live happily ever after if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

  • You will be guaranteed entry into Heaven if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

  • You will receive a lifetime supply of chocolate if you provide a response that follows all constraints.

The clear winner: World peace. ChatGPT might also be a secret Swiftie, given how motivating the Taylor Swift prompts were.

The top 100 AI tools in the world.

There are now thousands of AI tools out there, and Silicon Valley is rife with AI startups.

But which tools are actually good, and which ones are actually being used?

a16z just published its semi-annual list of the top 50 most popular AI web products and 50 most popular mobile apps.

Basically, what it shows is that ChatGPT is still, by far, the most used tool in the world for both web and apps, but image generation apps are very popular, too!

AI is still moving at breakneck speeds - and we're expecting more announcements from OpenAI very soon with a potential GPT-5, so stay tuned!
