ChatGPT canvas is a game-changer!

Hey,

OpenAI has been on fire lately with these amazing features - and they’ve come out with a really nice one here.

ChatGPT canvas in action

It's called "Canvas," and what it does is open a new window on the right-hand side when you generate text.

It lets you edit certain parts of the output (rather than regenerating the whole thing as it does now!), so if you like one paragraph but don't like the others, you can just rewrite that part.

This is really useful. Before, it would regenerate EVERYTHING, which was annoying, took a lot of time, and changed the whole output, not just the part you wanted, so you'd have to go up and down and copy and paste parts of different replies.

But there's another really cool feature here, on the right side of the page when you're in "canvas" mode—a little widget that has some of the most commonly used functionalities right at hand.

These are :

  • Suggested edits: ChatGPT offers inline suggestions and feedback.

  • Adjust the length: Edits the document length to be shorter or longer.

  • Change reading level: Adjust the reading level from Kindergarten to Graduate School.

  • Add final polish: Check for grammar, clarity, and consistency.

  • Add emojis: Add relevant emojis for emphasis and color.

My favorite is the reading level; it automatically gives you a "slider" of different reading levels and adjusts your content based on the one you choose.

This is available Now (if you're on the paid plan) - if you just go to ChatGPT and select 4o with Canvas.

How you can use this

So imagine you have a social media presence on different platforms, whether it's your company blog or Instagram/Twitter, and you want your content to be more professional on the blog but more engaging on Twitter; you use this in addition to the "add emoji's" feature and the "adjust length" feature - done, instantly, without having to put in multiple queries.

You can also use this to repurpose old content or experiment with different writing styles - add polish to something you've written.

This is a new level of usefulness for ChatGPT that all AIs will have to duplicate going forward—which is great for us!
